The Art of Nightclub Security

"A physical confrontation indicates that all rational means of resolving the problem have failed. It is humanly degrading to become involved in a physical confrontation - it indicates that reason and intelligence have failed."

Intimidating Looks

Bouncer arguing with male patronWhat usually comes to people's mind when they hear the word "Bouncer" is the imagination of a big burly guy. In today's nightclub security, this is not always the reality. In fact, that image is dwindling everyday. For the most part, the bigger type seem to be too intimidating usually leaving the patron's entering the venue with the felling that the club might have problems more often than the normal. They also have become a  fighting challenge for the over intoxicated patron who feels that he can take on the world. With their good intentions, club owners are notorious for hiring Bouncers who look intimidating and can handle themselves physically. While intimidating patrons to follow the rules of the club may still work, it has become a risk for liabilities. Subscribe for more

The Increase of Regulating and Required Training for Bouncers

Government rubber stampWhere did we go wrong? Since 2003 BouncerOnline has been the only complete go to website offering you the procedures to do it right. But a hand full of you show Government officials that we need to be looked after and carry a license in order for us to do our job. Actually, this is nothing new. Bouncers in some countries have been required be licensed for several years now. But there has been increasing pressure here in the US of A for the Government to be more aggressive in passing the same laws. Already there are less than a hand full of states requiring nightclub security personnel to take the state certified security guard test, which only provides you with the basic security procedures. These procedures are merely just the foundation of what nightclub security really is. The responsibilities of a Bouncer go far beyond than just to observe and report. Subscribe for more

When Nights Are Slow

Male and female standing at nightclub cocktail tablesEmployees of nightclubs are scheduled based on the draw of patrons mainly by the band or DJ for the night. This can also be said for the type of events a club may self-promote such as a sports event or theme event being St. Patrick's Day, Cinco de Mayo or a New Year's Eve party. Even then it's still a wonder if it will be a successful and profitable night. If not, the owner or general manager may decide to send their employee's home due to a slow night. Waitresses are usually the first to volunteer to go home due to the fact that if there are not patrons there are no tips to be had. However, Bouncers are usually paid more by the hour then any other non-management employee in the club. So guess who will be asked to clock out next if not before the waitresses? Subscribe for more
