Family Of Nightclub Shooting Victim Settles Suit With Club
Owners
COLUMBUS, Ohio
-- The family of renowned heavy metal guitarist "Dimebag"
Darrell Abbott has settled a wrongful death lawsuit
against the owners of the club where he was shot and
killed.
A lawyer for the Columbus club says
the terms of the settlement won't be released.
Abbott, a former member of the band
Pantera, was playing with his new band Damageplan in
December 2004 when Nathan Gale rushed the stage, pulled
out a handgun and began firing. Abbott and three others
were killed before a Columbus police officer killed the
Gale.
The suit claimed the owners of the
Alrosa Villa nightclub provided inadequate security that
allowed Gale to sneak in through a side door.
The club's manager released a
statement that says it sympathized with the victims but
couldn't have done anything to stop the shootings.
