Bouncer Talks About Violent Attack Outside Hebron Bar

Story on video

A bouncer at the bar and reception hall where two men were brutally beaten says workers there are shaken by the incident and thankful there has been an arrest in the case.

Joseph Pierce22 year old Joseph Pierce of Hebron man faces two counts of assault for the alleged attack which happened early Saturday morning in the parking lot of The Briarwood on Petersburg Road.

Pierce allegedly kicked 27 year-old George Carmac III and his friend 27 year old Josh Lindsay repeatedly in the head.  Carmac was found unconscious and barely breathing in the parking lot by bouncer Patrick Ratliff.   He is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Lindsay was also hurt but was treated and released from University Hospital.

Ratliff says Pierce and a group of his friends spent the hours before the attack taunting Carmac about his hair, which is long and blond.  They allegedly followed Carmac and Lindsay out of the hall and then attacked them. Ratliff says Pierce returned to the bar and reception hall Saturday night and that is where Boone County Sheriff Detectives arrested him.   He is being held at the Boone County Detention Center on a $50,000.

Ratliff says the staff at Briarwood is shaken up and praying for the two victims.  He says the bar and reception hall is a family venue and they've never had trouble like this before.

Detectives have not ruled out further arrests in the case.
