Man charged with murder after nightclub fight

Authorities have charged a Chicago man with first-degree murder in the slaying of a suburban man after a fight at a nightclub in the city's Lincoln Park neighborhood.

At an initial hearing Friday, Circuit Court Judge Peggy Chiampas denied bond for 30-year-old Jose Melecio.

Melecio is charged with killing 29-year-old Carlos Aguirre of west suburban
Burr Ridge.

Police say Melecio and Aguirre quarreled early Sunday at the Green Dolphin Street jazz nightclub, and were ejected by a bouncer. They say Melecio and another man then followed Aguirre and his girlfriend to where Aguirre had parked his truck.

Officers say Melecio and the other man punched and kicked Aguirre before Melecio pulled a gun and shot the victim several times.
