Bouncer at Wellmans Pub attacked; patron arrested

A dispute over the price of drinks resulted early today in an assault on a bouncer at Wellman's Pub, 2920 Ingersoll Ave., Des Moines.

Officers arrested Ricky Saycocie, 24, of Des Moines on an assault charge. He was accused of striking Nicholas Anderson, an employee of the bar.

A bartender told police that Saycocie and his party were upset about the bill. The bartender explained that the prices were correct and could not be changed.

Saycocie became upset and was asked to leave, police said. They said Saycocie responded by throwing a shoulder and elbow into Anderson.

Officers said Anderson carried Saycocie outside. At that point, police said, some of Saycocie's friends jumped on Anderson, and he was punched in the face by Saycocie. Anderson was able to get away and call police.

Saycocie also was charged with public intoxication.
