Woman rejects man, he steals her purse

A man who walked away with a woman’s purse after she rejected his advances was arrested.

Jaret A. Cabrera, 28, first approached the woman at the bar of the Electric Cowboy in Destin, according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s report.

After Cabrera had walked away, the woman noticed that her purse was missing and contacted the nightclub’s security officer who found Cabrera in the men’s restroom.

When Cabrera left the restroom, the security officer searched the restroom for the purse but didn’t find it.

Meanwhile, Cabrera made his way to the parking lot. A witness, who knew Cabrera was suspected of taking a woman’s purse, saw Cabrera use the keyless entry for the woman’s vehicle and approached him, according to the report.

As soon as the witness asked Cabrera about the keys, he dropped them and said he didn’t have any keys and tried to go back into the nightclub.

When deputies arrived, they found the woman’s purse along with her wallet, phone and iPOD in the parking lot, the report stated.

A deputy noted in the arrest report that Cabrera “refused to give me a coherent answer” when asked if he took the purse.

He was subsequently arrested and charged with larceny.
