14-year-old shot at DeKalb nightclub

A 17-year-old boy was wounded when a fight between teenagers at a DeKalb County nightclub led to gunfire early Sunday morning, police said.

A fight broke out just after midnight at Club Studio 72, which was hosting a party for teenagers, according to Officer Jason Gagnon with DeKalb police. The club is located in the 3900 block of Lawrenceville Highway.

"The security guards kicked those kids out of the club, at which point one of the kids retrieved a handgun from his vehicle and began shooting in the direction of the security guards," Gagnon said.

A 17-year-old, who police originally stated was 14, was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital after being shot, Gagnon said. The teenager's injuries were not life-threatening, and he was released from the hospital Sunday, according to WAGA, Atlanta's Fox affiliate.

Detectives have good leads on the shooter's identity, but no one is in custody yet, Gagnon said.

Gagnon said he did not know whether the 17-year-old was among those kicked out of the club.
