Garda and three bouncers injured in stabbing frenzy

A Garda and three bouncers were recovering last night after they were stabbed outside a nightclub in Co Donegal.

The incident took place in the early hours of yesterday morning outside Voodoo Nightclub in Letterkenny.

When gardai were called, the man produced a knife.

A garda was stabbed in the arm while another bouncer was treated for a stab wound to the leg. It is not believed their injuries are life-threatening. The injured garda was named locally as Aidan Doherty, who was stationed in Dublin until six months ago.

The stabbing frenzy took place as hundreds of people socialised during the Letterkenny Live Festival.

In a statement, Voodoo said the person who carried out the attack had not been on the premises but was merely passing by when he carried out the unprovoked attack .

A man is due in court in Mullingar today charged in connection with the incident.
