A man has been
charged with punching a uniformed policeman in the face at a
popular South Melbourne nightclub.
The policeman
was on patrol in The Motel nightclub about 1.15am on April 5
when security staff sought assistance to deal with a member
of the crowd.
As police
ejected the man from the club he allegedly punched one of
the officers in the face, leaving him with facial injuries.
Police raided a
Greensborough home in Corowa Crescent about 6am today and
charged a 27-year-old man with seriously assaulting police,
intentionally causing injury and recklessly causing injury.
He was bailed
and will face Melbourne Magistrates Court on June 7.
